August 23, 2010
This past week Danny raced at the Grant County Speedway for the fair race and at Dubuque. Wednesday night was Race Night at the Grant County Fair. Danny started eigth in the eight car heat and won easily.
This put him on the pole position of his feature event. Danny led the first lap before losing the lead to Joel Callahan. A few laps later, however, Danny was able to work his way back to the front.
Danny and Joel put on a great show the rest of the way, racing side-by-side for most of the race. Danny ultimately took the feature win, for his fifth win of the season. Sunday night at Dubuque, Danny started
7th. A caution on lap two gave Danny a chance to pit in order to adjust the spoiler. Restarting at the tail of the field proved to not be a problem for Danny, as he immediately began picking off cars
and was able to work his way up to second as the checkers flew.

Last week was a fairly busy week for the Shelliam racing team. On Wednesday night, the team was at the Dubuque County Fair for the Julien Dubuque Classic. After starting on the pole for the feature,
Danny took the early lead. After hitting some holes in the track in turns three and four, Danny felt the car go away. He jumped to the high side, but it was too late, as Jason Rauen had already passed
him for the lead. Danny held on the rest of the way to take the second position. Sunday night was more of a struggle, however. Danny started 5th in the feature, but was never able to get the car moving
forward, and was running 8th when the checkered flag flew. Last night, the team headed to Farley Speedway for the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series Event. Danny started 7th in the heat race and made
his way to fourth, giving him a spot in the feature. He started 4th in the feature, and was running top five for a while, until a loose plug wire forced him to the pits for repair. When he came back from the
pits, Danny started working his way forward, and got up to tenth when the checkered flag flew. This Friday night the team will be at Darlington for the double feature night.

After a strong run in Deery Brothers Competition, Danny decided to head to Darlington to get some seat time in the open car. It turned out to be a good decision. Danny started 9th in the 9 car feature race
and was able to pick off the leader on lap 10. He cruised to his third victory of the season. The following Tuesday night, Danny went to Farley for the Tornado Tuesday. He started 16th in the feature, and
was forced to pull in after the suspension broke on the car. The next night was the LaFayette County Fair in Darlington. Danny was looking to get another win there. He started fifth and had worked his way
up to second in the closing laps, but was forced to retire from the race after a belt came off in the engine, causing the engine to over-heat. Next up will be the Dubuque County Fair race.

A mid-week trip was all that was on the agenda this week for Danny and the team. Danny started third in his heat race, and finished third, good enough to make the feature event. In the feature, Danny started
eleventh, and immediately started working his way up through the field. When the checkers flew, Danny was in fourth place, another solid outting! Dubuque was rained out this weekend before all the features were
completed, so we should have double features to make up in a couple weeks.

It was back to Dubuque Speedway again on Sunday night to try to get the third win of the season. The track was particularly tricky Sunday night due to the massive amounts of rain we have received around
these parts lately. In the heat race, Danny started in the back and worked his way up to 4th at the finish. In the feature, Danny made a good push to the front early, and was running third most of the way.
The leader, Terry Neal, suffered a flat tire on lap 23 and bunched the field back up. Jason Rauen got the jump on the field and went on to win ahead of Joel Callahan and Danny. Overall, it was a good night
considering the track conditions. Wednesday night Danny will be racing at the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, IA.

It has been a couple of weeks of no racing for Danny and the team because of rainouts all over the place. The team was ready to get back into action on Sunday night in Dubuque. Danny started 7th in his heat race and worked his way forward for a 4th place finish in his heat.
He then started around 9th in the feature and was leading by lap 4. Danny paced the field until lap 23, when Joel Callahan worked underneath him and passed him for the lead. Andy Eckrich also snuck by Danny, relegating Danny to a third place finish.

After an incredibly successful night last Sunday night, Danny was eager to get back on the track. Friday night the team traveled to Farley for the Cornbelt Clash race. Danny finished 4th in his heat race, getting him into the feature event and giving him
the outside front row starting position. Danny immediately jumped to second at the start of the race, but was later passed by Chad Simpson. After trailing Simpson and pole sitter Jason Rauen, Danny found the car working well and started to chase them down.
A few laps later, however, the J-Bar broke on the car, and Danny was forced to watch the remainder of the race from the pits. The team suspects the part was stressed from earlier in the year at Darlington. Sunday night, Danny was back at Dubuque. Danny started
seventh in his heat race and immediately got a good jump and made it to second. A battle ensued with Corey Goldbeck, who led most of the way in the heat race. Danny was able to sneak by him out of turn four on the final lap to take the heat race win. Danny then
started 8th in the feature event and after initially getting up to 5th, he settled into 6th for most of the way. Late in the race, Jeff Aikey got around him, and Danny came home with a seventh place finish. The next event for the team
will be the Tornado Tuesday at Farley Speedway on June 15th.

Danny and the team were back in action this weekend, racing at Dubuque to finish up the season opener that was rained out two weeks ago. Danny started the make-up feature on the outside front row and jumped immediately to the lead. Danny was
never seriously challenged in the first race, taking the feature win in the 35-lap Season Championship race! In the heat race, Danny started 7th, but was able to work his way up to second place by the time the checkered flags fell. This allowed him
to redraw for his starting position in the feature race. He drew pill number "2", so he again started on the outside pole. Danny wasn't able to get the jump he got in the first feature and settled into second place behind pole-sitter Joel Callahan.
Danny challenged Joel a few times throughout the race, but wasn't able to get by him. On lap 24, a lapped car slowed Callahan down enough that Danny was able to get alongside him in turns three and four coming to the white flag. Danny was able to get
past Callahan going through turns one and two on the last lap and held on to take his second feature win of the evening. The team is hoping that the good times continue to roll and that the momentum holds up. The team plans on racing next Friday night
at either Farley Speedway for the Cornbelt Clash, or Darlington for their weekly show.

After a couple weeks off because of nothing but rain each weekend, Danny was ready to get back to some racing. Friday night at the LaFayette County Speedway in Darlington, WI, Danny started 10th in the feature. He immediately started to make his way forward on
the extremely rough track and took the lead on lap 16 of 25. On the 23rd lap, the second place car spun out while trying to pass a lapped car bringing out the caution. Coming back to get the green, Danny pulled
in to the infield due to a broken rack. Sunday night it was on to Dubuque, where Danny started 4th in his heat race. He jumped to the lead on the second lap and lead the rest of the way. After the heat races were complete
the rains came and put an end to a promising night. The team may make a trip to Marshalltown on Tuesday night for the IMCA Deery Brother's Summer Series race, looking to improve upon their third place finish when the tour stopped
at Dubuque Speedway.

This weekend, Danny and the team headed to the Davenport Speedway for The Deery Brothers Summer Series race. Danny was a bit late getting to the track, forcing him to start in the tenth position for his heat race. Danny worked his way up to fourth place as the checkers flew, but was forced to run a consi. He started third in the consi, and was in the lead by lap 2. With four laps left and running under caution, Danny suffered a flat tire, forcing him to the pits. He did not get back out by the time they went green again, forcing him to miss the show. Sunday night at Dubuque, however, was a different story. Danny drew the pole in his heat race, and won that. He started fifth in the feature race and ran top five the entire race. He was battling with the second place car late in the race when a lapped car interfered, forcing him back to fifth place. Danny was able to make up some spots late in the race, giving him a third place finish! It was a good night at Dubuque for the team!

This weekend, Danny and the team headed to the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA for the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series opener. A huge field of 64 Late Models were on hand for t he 24 starting positions. After starting 10th in his heat race, Danny worked his way to seventh on an extremely dusty track. Forced to the B-main to make his way to the feature, Danny again started mid-pack, and was unable to make his way through the field to gain a transfer position. Many good drivers went home without making the show. Next week, Danny is planning on running Davenport, Maquoketa and Dubuque for the IMCA Deery Brothers swing. The team is looking forward to a good weekend of racing! Last year, Danny won his heat at Davenport's show and came home with a 6th place finish. The team hopes to improve on their finish this year, and follow that up with some more solid finishes this weekend.
